Pin Up
Hey guys, I finally finished that piece for the pin-up calender. I guess the results for who won will be posted this week. There were some pretty bad-ass entries, so I'm not sure mine will make it in, but it was fun.
Also, I got a freelance job drawing a few characters for a fantasy RPG. Wooo-hoo! It's a small company, but my stuff will get published and it was really fun. I'll be sure to post as soon as I can show the images.

You mean this isn't a bad-ass entry?! It's beautiful Kim. Best of luck in the contest! And congrats on the freelance gig. You hafta let us know where we can get some of your printed work when it's available. Illustrator of the Future indeed. :)

That shading is fantastic, and I love the fair skin! It's such a stark contrast to the texture-rich background, and I very much hope to see this in a calendar. Congratulations on getting a freelance job too! Certainly sounds like you've had a good time doing it, so I know they'll be happy with the results.

No one ever underestimates the competition, do they? I will be surprised if this doesn't win. I wish I could design freelance RPG characters ... Good luck!

Argh, Kim, this is so gorgeous. The texture of the cloth, and the intense detail of the trees and plants contrast so nicely to her fair skin. It's so classic and makes me feel good to look at - I think my favorite part is the thorny vines and the coral-ish trees. I hope you do well in the contest!

Beautiful composition and colors. I really love the way you work the texture of the tree barks and branches. Her skin seems to bring the light to the enviroment. keep the great work!

gawd, beautiful, beautiful. I'm going to echo everyone else in complimenting the way you painted the luminous-looking lady. And I'm really enjoying letting my eyes wander all over the background detail. That swirly tree kind of reminds me of some of the trees I took pictures of in Cali. Did you use any of the photos you took there for inspiration?
This is just so lovely to look at. Looking forward to seeing your RPG characters...

Hey guys, thanks for all the kick-ass support! I still haven't heard about the results. we should know soon (crosses fingers). Tamara: I think a lot of what we saw in San Diego is coming out. It's kind of neat to see how all those plants and textures and colors get all mixed together in my brain and squirted out on paper. That sounds really gross. Well, no one said that art wasn't messy.
