My stuff

Hey guys,

Finished uploading a bunch of stuff on the Carbonmade portfolio site. There's a mix of things from graphic design to photography, school projects to professional work, fun old stuff to more recent pieces, etc. Check it out at www.ozzierodriguez.carbonmade.com. For anyone interested in posting on this site, it's free up to 35 images and easy to use. Should have new stuff to post here soon.

  • wow, your design work is just so strong, I envy you. You have such great ideas and execute them so well.
I think it requires a pretty powerful imagination to make certain topics attractive or interesting.

As for the illustrations, I never get tired of looking at your ink work :) Those copper plate etchings are really lovely too, I'm wndering what was your inspiration for the landscape in no. 4? It's very tranquil but odd. Actually, maybe all your landscapes fit that description, sort of serene and surreal.

  • actually, now I can't stop looking at no. 2, the coloured pencil illo. What is going on with that one...? Like the way the tree trunk is twisting down to the viewer. Also, it might be nice if some of the illos had titles, maybe, or perhaps you prefer the images to remain mysterious. And I always love the small elements protruding from the frame in your pen drawings.

  • Thanks for the feedback T. I just pulled a bunch of things off the site to make room for more recent design and illustration pieces. I had the collaboration I did with Laura up, but when I tried to reload it with a better scan it wouldn't let me. I'll update it over the next week or so.

As far as my inspiration, it comes from everywhere--history, science, etc. Usually before I start a drawing I kinda ask myself "Wouldn't it be cool if..." and it takes off from there. With the colored pencil one, I wanted to draw a tree floating in the sky that didn't bear any fruit but had them orbiting around it. (That drawing got recycled into the B&W tree I used for the contest.) The copperplate landscape just came out of my interest to draw ruins. If something looks like it would be fun to draw, I'll write it down, research it, and make it work for me.
