Color!

Oh, how I love color! Sure, I'm a newbie, but I just love it so much! I can't wait to experiment even more, but here's what I'm doing right now. This is an old inked sketch. The figure is colored in Photoshop, and I really loved doing the background in Corel Essentials, but now I want to translate some of that fun to the main figure. Thoughts?

  • Nice color experimentation here. I really like how you used the colors on the upper left side of the image. My only suggestion–well, it's really just a personal preference–would be to pick up the coloring style from the last "Coming Distractions" strip where the outlines of the characters are solid colors that relate to the body part/clothing it's next to. I think that style adds a richness to the characters and really makes them shine.

  • I'm kinda with Ozzie on this; it's all about preference. Footzling around with stuff is the best way to find something new and fun. I've always been a fan of super comic lines and realistic shading. To my own peril, I'm sure.
Incidentally, how do you do your lines?
